The National Lottery's autumn awareness-raising communication focuses on the inclusion and successful and happy adulthood of children living with disabilities. The end-of-year campaign builds on the personal story of World, European and Paralympic champion swimmer Fanni Illés, to show that barriers can be broken down through acceptance, the support of family and the wider community. In addition to the promotional film, an extraordinary video series has also been produced this year, which portrays the lives of both known and lesser-known people affected and asks taboo questions that no one has dared to ask.
One in 14 minors in our country has some type of disability. The campaign "Join us for an accessible future!" based on the principle of "nothing about us without us" promotes the importance of awareness-raising by involving those affected.
"At Szerencsejáték Zrt. we have adopted a threefold approach to the issue of social inclusion of people living with disabilities. In addition to strengthening inclusive attitudes, we strive to promote the open market employment of people with disabilities and pay special attention to providing the highest possible level of service to our players with disabilities." - said Andrea Mager. The President and CEO of Szerencsejáték Zrt. added: "as a state-owned company, we have been working for years to ensure that people living with disabilities receive the support they need to become full fledged and happy members of society from an early age”.
Szerencsejáték Zrt. was the first in the region to join the agreement between the European Lotteries and the European Disability Forum, which aims to provide significant, coordinated support to European gambling operators with a view to reducing the burden on people living with disabilities and to promote their social inclusion. In this context, the National Lotteries has been operating its network of lottery ticket sales outlets exclusively for employees living with disabilities for almost 20 years (since 2003), currently employing 180 people.
The "Join us for an accessible future!" long-term awareness-raising campaign launched last year is an extension of this undertaking, aiming to increase the focus on acceptance and the inclusion of people with disabilities, combined with support for the launch of the seasonal Christmas charity scratch card.
Going one step further, a series of interviews was launched in November which, beside providing an insight into the daily lives of those affected, also uniquely raises taboo questions that many of us have never dared to ask, despite the fact that those concerned would be open to discussing them.
Participating in the campaign were: Paralympic champion swimmer Fanni Illés, Rita Drávucz, an affected parent, who is also a world and European champion water polo player, Zsófia Lengyel, the visually impaired model Luca Ekler, Paralympic, world and European champion, world record holder Hungarian parathlete Péter Pál Kiss, Paralympic champion, paracanoeist as well as László Csajbi, a hearing impaired charity scratch card vendor.
The aim of the weekly video series is for everyone to see what it means to live with disabilities today, what problems, stereotypes and prejudices they have to face in their lives and what could be done to make their everyday lives easier.
The campaign is also closely linked to the construction of inclusive playgrounds, which will be made possible through the sale of the Christmas scratch cards. By the end of the year, 4 playgrounds will have been delivered across the country, bringing the total to 22, where children can play together inclusively. An important message of the campaign is that an accessible future cannot be achieved by breaking down physical barriers, but it must start in the mindset.
There are 5 games on the larger Christmas scratch card series, with a grand prize of HUF 100 million. In addition to the HUF 25 million top prize, the smaller Christmas scratch card with 3+1 bonus games offers 5 additional prizes of HUF 1 million.
The episodes of the video series will be uploaded ever week to the tartsvelunk.hu website. The first ones are available here: https://tartsvelunk.hu/cikk/semmit-rolunk-nelkulunk-beszelgetes-illes-fanni-paralimpikonnal
